Is the CBD hype justified medically?
A (Neurologist): For pediatric epilepsy (Dravet syndrome) – yes, Epidiolex is FDA approved. For anxiety or pain? The evidence is weak, mixed with placebo effects.
B (Pharmacologist): The problem is regulation. Most OTC gummies have zero CBD or heavy metals. We need USP standards for purity and dosing.
C (Retailer): Consumer demand is insane for sleep and stress. Even if it’s placebo, if it reduces Xanax prescriptions, that’s a win.
D (Addiction Specialist): Risk is low, but “weed light” normalizes cannabis use. Also, drug tests can’t distinguish CBD from THC. Users risk failing employment screens.
