Program Manager

The Program Manager provides strategic oversight, coordination, and management of Steward Moab's programs, including the Trail Ambassador Program, Human Waste Initiative, Moab Guide Summit, and related strategic efforts and programming. Working under the direction of the Executive Director, this role exercises independent judgment and discretion in program planning, staff supervision, operational decision-making, and partner coordination, and is responsible for ensuring program effectiveness, consistency, compliance, and alignment with Steward Moab's mission and strategic goals. This position is primarily administrative and managerial in nature; limited field participation may occur as needed for training, evaluation, quality control, or issue resolution.

Trail Ambassador

Performs a variety of tasks related to educating trail users about minimum-impact recreation practices, either independently or as part of a team, to promote responsible recreation on public lands in the Moab area. Duties are divided between two primary recreation contexts: non-motorized (hiking) trails and motorized OHV (off-highway vehicle) routes. The position may also include other recreation contexts, such as mountain biking, climbing, and more - requiring the employee to adapt outreach and education methods to the distinct user groups, terrain, and impact concerns associated with each. Employees utilize a UTV (utility terrain vehicle) to access OHV/4x4 routes as part of these duties.
